We interviewed Mrs. Tricia Nelson because she is coming to Waldo as our new
principal. She answered some questions we had for her. Here are the answers.
principal. She answered some questions we had for her. Here are the answers.
Q: Have you always been a principal?
A: No, I taught for 13 years. Most of my teaching was in grades 5 and 6. I
also taught 2nd-7th grades. I am first and always a teacher.
Q: Do you enjoy being a principal? Is it fun?
A: Yes, I do enjoy being a principal. It isn't always fun, but most days are. Being with students is my favorite part of the work I do. I love being in classrooms, working with kids to plan activities for them, and helping them get involved in their neighborhoods to show everyone that middle school students are the best! You have creative ideas, are not afraid to come up
with new ideas, and are passionate people.
Q: Where have you been a principal?
A: I was Walker's assistant principal for 3 years and then became their
principal. I've been Walker's principal for 7 years. Waldo will be my
second principalship.
Q: Are you excited to come to Waldo next year?
A: Absolutely excited! I can't wait to get to know the students and the dreams that they have for their school. I want to know what you want Waldo Mustangs to be known for and then work with you to get there. I will miss Walker students, staff, and families. However, I know that new relationships are ready to be made at Waldo.

Starting in September, 6th and 7th graders be prepared to have a new principal. You might see her around Waldo, so say hi. You might also see Jon Penhollow, who is going to be our new assistant principal for next year. So wish them luck!
