Students anonymously ask questions about school

By Maya Kersnowski and Beaunyle Lang

We went around Waldo Middle School asking kids if they needed any advice or had any questions about school work, or just any questions relating to school in general. We did a standard interview, except backwards. They ask us the questions and we give them the answers. I guess you could consider this an advice column.

Keep in mind everyone who asked these questions was kept anonymous, meaning their identities will not be shown. The first question we got was “Why do teachers give us so much homework?” The answer to that question is pretty basic; it’s because they want us to learn and they want us to practice the things that we learned in class. The next question we got was “Why do we get a lunch detention if we are tardy for class?” The answer to that is pretty basic as well. It's to teach you to not be tardy to class because no one wants to be stuck in lunch detention.

“What is everyones favorite sport?” To answer this question we decided to go around Waldo Middle School and ask students what their favorite sports are. We asked 13 students that question. A majority of the students said volleyball.

“Why do we have school dress code?” I’m sure everybody asks this question. We all want to know why we have a dress code. It seems unfair right? Well, it’s actually for a good cause. For us students it may seem boring and unnecessary, but teachers think it makes their classes concentrate better and be more focused. We hope we answered a few of the questions you have, and thank you for reading!
